W3C Markup Validation Service
The W3C Markup Validation Service is a wonderfully useful tool for checking for syntax errors in web pages. Dreamweaver doesn’t even go to such great lengths to criticize my work. I was put at ease when I used it to analyze Google.com: It detected 36 errors and 3 warnings! I knew their developers were over-paid! […]

I installed WordPress on etvfc.org‘s site and seamlessly inserted it into the blog page, using the same layout and custom design as the rest of the website.

A preloader certainly makes a site more user-friendly to those with slower connections. I made this custom loader.swf a separate file from the main flash video, and gave it a transparent background by using the “wmode value=transparent” parameter setting for the flash object. I used our logo design with one of the bottom bars as […]

Another good way to encourage search engines to find your site is to have a lot of usefull information about a topic of your site’s specialty, with a table of contents that links directly to the corresponding ‘anchors’ on the page. I added this one today.

The owner of BabcockBulldogs.com originally requested that there be a spot on the contact page where the prospective buyer could enter something like “puppy #x” if they were interested in a particular puppy. Now, the form selector dynamically queries the MySQL database that WordPress feeds, and only displays titles from active listings in the Available […]

I was able to insert and convert all of the articles that the owner of the site sent me via e-mail today. A nice touch (I think so at least) seemed to be when I used black at 60% alpha for the table backgrounds. We’ll see what Tom says later, but I think he’ll agree.

ETVFC.org is also looking great as a web page on fire! I should be able to update the content today with the emails that the owner sent me over the weekend. Tom Rood’s graphic design work, especially the logo, look awesome as usual. The owner plans on having us insert a WordPress blog into it […]
BabcockBulldogs.com is coming along wonderfully and hopefully I can have all the content that the owner requested inserted into the site by the end of the day. Tom designed the graphics and the layout as usual, including the dog-head logo. That site has three separate WordPress blogs installed seamlessly as though it’s just part of […]

Last Friday we archived the file of our first “walking-by” customer (He found us by walking past our office at 1 Main Street, Hamburg, NY). His website is LibertyPSA.com. Our job was to add one page ( http://libertypsa.com/medical.html), add the text and image content he requested over the phone, design new header graphic, and update […]

Hindi characters allowed in WordPress on friend’s website
I modified WordPress’ MySQL Database where the structure called for a text field, which was default set for ‘Latin-1 Swedish,’ I changed each instance to ‘utf8-bin.’ Also, I inserted a Google transliterate script to allow anyone to comment in Nepalese characters by typing the English transliteration. http://hamrobuffalo.com
