Why do we call ourselves Intelligent Design? The name certainly has a double meaning: We try our best to provide our clients with an intelligently designed solution, but our desire is also to give honor to the Most Intelligent Designer.
I had always questioned the existence of a creator of the universe since childhood, as my interest in dinosaurs led me to a thorough presentation of the Theory of Evolution. “65 million years ago…” seemed to be such a scientific fact that my childhood daydreams of time travel (after watching Back to the Future) brought total confusion when I imagined traveling back to the days of Adam and Eve. What would I see? It could only be one or the other: millions of years of evolution by chance and mutation or creation by an intelligent God.
So after some contemplation of what I’ve seen around me, specifically the difficulty it is to create or even maintain an organized, functioning system, I was compelled to believe the latter. When you examine the creation with a truly open mind, you will conclude that there is an intelligence far superior to ours behind it all. The further you go into microbiology, the more you see the complexity of life.
I’m happy to say that our creator has not only given us life and a beautiful universe, but also a purpose, a plan, a guidebook and a hope. Our purpose is simply to worship Him and honor Him with our lives. The plan is that we would see our inability to fulfill our purpose because of our sinful human nature, that we would look to God for forgiveness of those failures, and then be reconciled to Him. We see that the plan of God for our reconciliation was so important to Him that the immortal invisible God became mortal flesh known as the Son of God just to demonstrate His love for us. This man was Jesus Christ and although he healed every sickness or disease he encountered and preached love and repentance, he was hated and brutally murdered by the majority of those He came to save. He was God in the flesh though, so he didn’t stay dead. He rose from the grave to prove that the God of the universe keeps His promises, and therein is that hope that I mentioned above: victory over death. The Guidebook known as the Bible contains many precious promises and one of them is that if we believe in this same Christ, call on Him asking for forgiveness and repent of our sin, we would surely have that hope of resurrection.
It’s a simple, intelligent design of a Gospel which I hope you believe or are considering. Life is too short to look at it as the result of random mistakes. Give God the glory and trust in Him and His Book as the basis for your life.
